Love is is the Air!

“The heart can think of no devotion
Greater than being shore to the ocean-
Holding the curve of one position,
Counting an endless repetition.”
 Robert Frost

Valentine's is traditionally considered a celebration of romantic love. But we can't really limit love, can we? It is a boundless, deep and encompassing emotion that enriches our lives and gives meaning to our relationships. So, let's celebrate it with partners, spouses and friends, with family, kids and pets!

Homemade treats say "I love you!" Put them in the mail!

My counters are sticky with sugar and my floor is slippery with flour - mission accomplished! The baking marathon is done and the sweets have been mailed to my kids, nieces & nephew: chocolate candy brownie cupcakes, heart shaped frosted cookies and more.  I baked Ina Garten's brownie recipe in mini muffin pan lined with paper cups and pressed Dove's Valentine chocolate heart onto the center of each warm brownie.

Also made Alton Brown's sugar cookie recipe, cut into hearts and glazed with colored shiny royal icing.

Cleaned up my kitchen with the music blasting, then rewarded myself by attending a Galentine Party! Creative and talented, Jan set a beautiful, feminine table, decorated with her daughter's whimsical designs for a famous retailer.

Adorable!

Can't leave Jan's house without learning a crafty skill! One year it was knitting, another was cake decorating, and this year? The year of the flowers! We learned the ABCs of flower arrangements, got to use scissors and play with gorgeous blooms while consuming sweets and herbal teas. A refined afternoon indeed!

High tea!

Got to take our beautiful creations home to enjoy the scents of the delicate blossoms - how fun is that?

So... kids - check! Friends - check! Next? Dinner at home with my man on Valentine's eve, a relaxed evening at home with a glass of wine or possibly... Romance in a glass - Hibiscus Citrus vodka. How can that be bad?

So, whether it's with friends or solo, with kids or with a partner, don't forget to give yourself some lovin' and have a Happy Valentine's day!!
